MBF To Honor Ron Shuffield With 2017 "Legacy Award"


Longtime Master Broker Ron Shuffield, CEO of EWM Realty, will be honored with the 2017 MBF "Legacy Award" at this year's Holiday Celebration.

"Ron is one of the most respected and recognized names in all of Miami real estate, and we are delighted to present him with this well-deserved honor," said Jeff Morr, Miami MBF chair. "Everyone in our business can tell a story of how Ron's kindness and wisdom impacted their career, and our organization has been greatly enriched by his membership and participation."

Previous MBF Legacy Award honorees include Alicia Cervera, Sr. and Evelyn Framer (2011), Jeanne Baker (2012), Rosalie Elliot (2013), Teresita Shelton (2014), Consuelo Stewart (2015), and Helen Jeanne Nicastri (2016).

MBF Makes Major Impression at 2017 "Real Deal" Showcase


Each year, The Real Deal hosts a showcase that brings together thousands of professionals from Miami's real estate community. The MBF had a major presence at this year's event in Wynwood, with a strategically-placed booth right at the entrance, several members serving as expert panelists, and live updates from the event on the chapter's social media channels.

Estates At Acqualina Hosts MBF, Discussion on Impact of Global Events on Miami


The MBF recently held a lively discussion and dinner hosted by The Trump Group, developer of the newly-launched Estates at Acqualina in Sunny Isles Beach.

The Trump Group’s President of Sales Michael Goldstein and MBF event chairs Donna Bloom and Ralph De Martino, together welcomed more than 80 Master Brokers to the event, where members renewed acquaintances and networked on the beachfront lawn.

Preceding the panel, Goldstein spoke about The Estates at Acqualina, the newest extension of the renowned Acqualina brand, to be nestled on 5.6 acres of Sunny Isles Beach oceanfront.

The panel discussion which followed focused on a variety of global issues. Moderated by MBF chair Jeff Morr, the panel included Tim Padgett, Latin America and the Caribbean correspondent for WLRN-Miami Herald, and Steven Beatus, executive vice president of economic development for The Beacon Council. Topics ranged from the expansion of PortMiami and its effect on Miami trade and commerce; the need for more non-stop flights to and from East Asia; the importance of Miami and the United States’ stability in drawing investors from Venezuela, Brazil, and the Middle East; and the short and long-term impact of normalized diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba.

The panel discussion was followed by an elegant dinner and dessert catered by AQ by Acqualina, Acqualina Resort & Spa’s 2014 Forbes Travel Guide Award-recipient oceanfront restaurant.

Master Brokers Share Real Estate Marketing Secrets at SLS LUX


The MBF's June 2014 event featured an informative panel discussion and dinner at the SLS LUX sales center. More than 100 Master Brokers renewed acquaintances and networked during a lavish welcome reception.

Carlos Rosso, president of the Condominium Division for The Related Group (developer of the SLS LUX, along with The Allen Morris Company), greeted the guests and informed them about this spectacular hotel and condominium project, located on South Miami Avenue between Eighth and Ninth streets, scheduled to open in 2016.

This was followed by a special panel comprised of elite Master Brokers, discussing "Marketing Dollars: Where to Spend Them in 2014". (Marking the first time in many years in which a MBF panel featured only active members.) Moderated by MBF founder Helen Jeanne Nicastri, the panel included Oscar Arellano, Jo-Ann Forster, and Judy Zeder. The trio shared their most effective marketing strategies for real estate professionals in an extremely competitive, diverse, and evolving market, including various online tactics; the pros and cons of going "all in" with expensive, glossy inserts in daily newspapers; and the singular importance of the top decision-maker in such a hectic environment. The panel discussion was followed by an elegant dinner in the sales center’s charming courtyard.

New Membership Dues Structure for 2014


The Master Brokers Forum advisory board recently approved a new dues structure for 2014. Please read carefully:

Membership dues for 2014 will be $300.00, and invoices will be sent to all members by January 15, 2014.

Members who make their dues payments by February 15, 2014 may apply a $50.00 discount. (Dues payment of $250.00.)

Members who make their dues payments between February 15, 2014 and February 28, 2014 will not be eligible for a discount. (Dues payment of $300.00.)

After March 1, 2014, members who have not paid their dues will have their status changed to "not active", and will have to re-apply for membership at a later date, subject to Board Approval.

In January, all members will receive an emailed invoice for their 2013 dues. That email will contain a link which will take members to a web site where dues can be securely paid with a Visa or Mastercard.

Top Producer Network Honors Miami Real Estate Icon Jeanne Baker with 2012 "Legacy Award"

Looking back at another extraordinary year for Miami real estate, the Miami Master Brokers Forum recently celebrated 2012 with its annual Holiday Party. Hosted by Terra Group and its renowned Grove at Grand Bay
project, this celebration brought together more than
125 Master Brokers for an evening of merriment and
camaraderie.

Chaired by Iliana Abella, Penni Chasens, and Nancy Iliffe, the festive event was held in the Grove at Grand Bay sales gallery, adjacent to the project's future location on South Bayshore Drive in Coconut Grove. Members enjoyed signature cocktails and fine cuisine, while admiring scale models, renderings, and model rooms that showcased the project's cutting-edge design.

During the course of the evening, the MBF thanked Terra Group for its generosity and support of the broker community. Pedro Martin, Terra Group chairman and CEO, welcomed the guests and congratulated them on another successful year, while Philip C. Freedman, sales director for Grove at Grand Bay, enlightened guests about the unique aspects of the project.

Incoming MBF chair Jeff Morr then presented the chapter's 2012 "Legacy Award" to Miami real estate legend Jeanne Baker, who was represented by her son, David Popham and her granddaughter, Lauren Popham. (The MBF Legacy Award honors longtime members who have enjoyed exceptional careers in Miami real estate, and whose leadership and professionalism elevated the standards for the entire industry.) Ms. Baker's extraordinary career in South Florida real estate blazed a trail for thousands of successful women in the industry. She accomplished this legacy through a potent mix of style, dedication, and a passionate commitment to fairness. Ms. Baker constructed a real estate empire that, at its peak in 1996, employed nearly 600 agents in six offices.

The MBF then honored Emilio Palomo, who marked his final event as chair of the chapter. Mr. Palomo thanked his colleagues on the MBF advisory board for their tremendous dedication and support during his four-year run leading the organization.

"The Master Brokers Forum accomplished truly great things under Emilio's leadership, and we are delighted that he has chosen to remain on the advisory board," said Morr. "One of Emilio's finest decisions was assembling the current Holiday Party committee, which produced yet another amazing event. We thank them and, of course, our esteemed sponsor for making this Holiday Party a huge success."

This year, Miami Master Brokers from Aventura to Homestead have already enjoyed two fabulous, fun, and enlightening events! Participation in MBF signature events is the greatest single benefit of your membership, and attendees certainly reap the rewards.

In February, members enjoyed a lively and educational panel discussion on "Timeless Residential Design",sponsored by acclaimed architectural interior designer Alfred Karram, Jr. of AKJ Design Concepts at the Soho Beach House in Miami Beach. Following a reception on the hotel's bar patio (where oversized images of Karram's award-winning, ultra-luxurious design work were projected onto nearby buildings), guests were ushered into the nearby Library, where Karram welcomed and thanked the guests for their participation. Karram then joined local architect Rene Gonzalez and Claudio Faria of Ornare Kitchen for an in-depth panel discussion focusing on the importance of quality and timelessness in home design.

At the year's second event, held in May, members learned "What's Up With Downtown?",sponsored by Vizcayne. The evening began with a cocktail reception in one of Vizcayne's luxurious penthouses, providing breathtaking views of downtown Miami, Miami Beach, and Biscayne Bay. Afterwards, guests were escorted into the magnificent club room, where International Sales Group principal (and Master Broker) Craig Studnicky welcomed them and introduced the project. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation from Alyce Robertson, executive director of Miami's Downtown Development Authority (DDA). Ms. Robertson covered a wide range of topics that illustrated the city's extraordinary and promising future, including downtown Miami's dramatically improving occupancy rates (up to 93% in 2011); increasingly younger demographics; major projects from international corporations (Resort World Miami and Brickell CitiCentre); and enhanced public transportation options (Miami Trolley and MetroRail's expansion to Miami International Airport). She also discussed the city's numerous cultural outlets; luxury hotel options; burgeoning rental market; and the critical significance of Miami's NAP of the Americas.

"As anyone who attends our events will tell you, they are simply phenomenal, and I feel badly for members who choose not to take advantage of the chance to attend them," said Emilio Palomo, Miami MBF chair. "Our talented and brilliant event chairs - Jeff Morr, Donna Bloom, Pat Klock Parker, and Christopher Zoller - work incredibly hard and deliver extraordinary affairs for their fellow members."

2012 Member Dues Can Be Paid Online

In January, all members will receive an emailed invoice for their 2012 dues. That email will contain a link which will take members to a PayPal site where dues can be securely paid with a Visa or Mastercard.

PLEASE NOTE: for members who prefer to pay their dues with checks, that option will still be available.Look for more information in January.

At one of the most festive Holiday Celebrations in its history, the Miami Master Brokers Forum recently commemorated a resurgent market and the extraordinary careers of two Miami real estate icons. Hosted by Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust at their Coral Gables office, the 2011 Holiday Celebration brought together more than 100 Master Brokers for an evening of joy and reflection.

Chaired by Iliana Abella, Penni Chasens, and Nancy Iliffe, the festive event was held on the bank's lovely 8th floor terrace, overlooking downtown Coral Gables. Members were treated to an elegant cocktail reception and fine delicacies, while enjoying live entertainment and lovely weather.

During the course of the evening, the MBF thanked Gibraltar Bank for its generosity and support of the broker community. Steven D. Hayworth, founder, chairman and CEO of the company welcomed the guests and congratulated them on a watershed year for the recovering Miami real estate market. The MBF then honored departing board member Jo-Ann Forster, one of its original founders and most dedicated advocates, as well as Carole Smith, who served the board faithfully for five years.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the inaugural MBF "Legacy Awards",honoring longtime members who have enjoyed exceptional careers in Miami real estate, and whose leadership and professionalism elevated the standards for the entire industry. The MBF honored "the Queen of Brickell" Alicia Cervera, Sr. (who accepted the award from her daughter, Miami MBF past president Alicia Cervera Lamadrid, and Penni Chasens), and Miami Beach "Grand Dame" Evelyn Framer, who could not attend, but whose award was accepted by longtime friend and associate Silvia Chudnovsky.

"This was truly one of the most special and unique occasions we have ever put together, and I cannot give enough credit to our exceptional host committee for its success," said Emilio Palomo, Miami MBF chair."Special thank you to our friends at Gibraltar for the party and everything associated with it, and at Tui Lifestyle for the generous gifts for our members."

Master Brokers Discover Extraordinary Homes and Cutting-Edge Health Advice at Canyon Ranch Living

The MBF recently took part in an exclusive affair at Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach. More than 60 guests attended the event, which was co-chaired by Pat Klock Parker and Christopher Zoller. Master Brokers were welcomed in one of the property's distinctive model residences by sales directors Michael J. Internoscia and Michael Sadov who introduced the unique property, its spectacular luxury residences, and Canyon Ranch's world famous and wellness-focused environment.

This reception was followed by a presentation from Dr. Karen Koffler, medical director of Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa, who discussed the wide-ranging health benefits of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Koffler described Integrative Medicine's approach to preventing and alleviating ailments through simple diet and lifestyle changes, through a combination of conventional and alternative medicines. Her engaging presentation, customized for busy, technology-dependent professionals, offered common-sense approaches to better health.

After the presentation, Master Brokers enjoyed dinner and dessert at the Canyon Ranch Grill.

"Membership in our organization is based on consistent success over a number of years, so by definition, most Master Brokers are 'of a certain age', are extremely driven, and work long hours. This drive can take a toll on our health, and we need to be reminded to take care of ourselves," said Emilio Palomo, chair of the Miami MBF. "Dr. Koffler's suggestions were very well-received, and we thank her and everyone at Canyon Ranch for an extraordinary event."
